Hmmm, let’s see…I was never very good at these “getting to know you” games. What do you really want to know about me, something unique right? That’s my problem, I’m just an average joe schmoe that loves to spend time in the kitchen. It’s my way of creating. I don’t label myself as a creative person, but in the kitchen it’s my time to explore, experience and experiment.
I’m an avid health nut. I believe in moderation in all things. I do not and will not ever diet or eliminate certain natural foods from my diet. I cringe when I hear about eliminating carbs or eating only protein. I believe there is a place for any and all natural, health-benefiting foods in our diets. Yes, even scrumptious, yummy, 100% sugar and fat filling desserts! Health supplements, power bars, energy drinks and anything of that nature truly freaks me out along with anything jellied or gummied. Weird, maybe…but that’s just me! Basically I like to stick to as fresh as possible.
I have a lovely family full of girls and one amazing husband. Seriously, my husband Ben is AMAZING! Basically I say that because he puts up with me. I’m not easy to live with. I blame the OCD. Really, I’m a little nuts. It is my goal to teach my children that they are beyond beautiful and beyond loved. My oldest daughter, Braelyn, is adopted and has been a testimony to me that love is perfect. I adore the gift that she is to our family even when she is talking, and talking, and talking, and…well you get it. And my youngest little peanut, Emry, is such a vivacious and mischievously perfect angel as well.
I love running and yoga to keep in shape. Don’t be fooled, the boring meditation yoga is not my forte. I’m talking about the 100 push ups an hour, kick your butt, sore for a week kind of yoga. Fun hidden fact that most people don’t know: I do some acting on the side. I’ve done some radio commercials, online learning videos, and a few educational voice overs. I made it to a game show this year! You can see the results by watching “Let’s Ask America” airing April 22, 2014. Yay!!!
All in all, I’m your typical mom searching for meaning in my everyday life. Searching for guidance, love, happiness, success, answers, you name it. Most recently I am searching for ways to make my family’s dietary life gluten free. Braelyn was recently diagnosed with Celiac which turned my baking world upside down. (Read more about our story here) I figure this blog can at least be an answer to the search for good…no delicious…gluten-free food. Enjoy!
